STEAM STAR WEEKEND AT TVRM!

Celebrate a Steam-Powered Weekend at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum

This weekend, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) is alive with the unforgettable rhythm of steam! Engine #630 takes center stage on Saturday as she wraps up her operating season before heading into the shop for a well-deserved rebuild. Then on Sunday, she’ll share the rails with her legendary sister, #4501, in a rare doubleheader — two powerful steam locomotives leading the Summerville Steam Special through the North Georgia countryside.

This is more than a train ride — it’s a living display of craftsmanship, dedication, and the enduring legacy of Southern steam railroading.

The Stars of the Steam Show: Engines #630 and #4501

  • Southern Railway 630 was built in 1904, making her 121 years old this season. Restored to operating condition by TVRM’s skilled team, she has spent recent years delighting passengers on excursions around Chattanooga.

  • Southern Railway 4501, built in 1911, remains one of the most iconic locomotives in the South. She has appeared in documentaries, heritage events, and even Hollywood films — representing the golden age of rail travel.

Together, these locomotives embody over two centuries of steam power between them. Watching both in action is a rare treat that railway fans won’t want to miss.

What Makes Steam Star Weekend Special
