RIDE, DINE & PRESERVE RAIL HISTORY THIS AUGUST 16
An August Evening of Flavor, Fun & Railroading at TVRM
On Saturday, August 16, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum invites you to an evening that combines entertainment with preservation. Whether you choose gourmet dining, sunset cocktails, or ice cream with the family, each Special August Ride gives you a ticket into railroading’s living history.
Dinner in the Depot – Elegant Support for Preservation
Restored in the 1980s, the upstairs dining room at Grand Junction Depot offers the perfect setting for a fine dining event. The six-course seasonal menu, live music, and post-dinner ride on the Missionary Ridge Local bring together modern hospitality and historic authenticity.
These same rails once carried Southern Railway passenger service, making every journey a tribute to America’s rail heritage.
Sunset Sips – Raise a Glass to the Past
Aboard the Evening Ridge Runner, Sunset Sips guests enjoy two beverages and a treats box while relaxing in vintage coaches. The trip follows a route that has been in service for more than a century, carrying passengers, freight, and now, history enthusiasts.
In August 1971, TVRM volunteers ran one of their earliest public evening rides here — a tradition still honored today.
Ice-Cream Chill – A Depot Delight
Your Ice-Cream Chill experience starts at the depot, where you can enjoy a scoop of Clumpies Ice Cream before boarding. The ride itself offers the opportunity to experience authentic passenger cars from railroading’s mid-century era, connecting guests to the craftsmanship and travel culture of that time.
Why Your Ticket Matters
TVRM is a non-profit organization, and ticket sales fund restoration work. A full rebuild of a steam locomotive can cost up to $1.5 million and must be done every 15 years. By participating, you directly help keep these mechanical treasures running.
