MAGICAL HOLIDAY TRAIN RIDES AT TVRM: CHRISTMAS DAYLIGHT EXPRESS & NORTH POLE LIMITED
Christmas Train Rides in Chattanooga: Christmas Daylight Express & North Pole Limited at TVRM
Each holiday season, families gather at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga for one simple reason: to step into a real, working train decorated for Christmas.
This year, guests can choose between two distinct experiences — the daytime Christmas Daylight Express and the evening North Pole Limited, a seasonal tradition that has welcomed families since 1999. Both rides include time in TVRM’s Christmas Village, giving visitors a chance to linger, explore, and enjoy the festive setting beyond the train ride itself.
Christmas Daylight Express
The Christmas Daylight Express is designed especially for families with younger children or those who prefer a daytime outing. The one-hour round-trip ride departs from Grand Junction Station and travels to the East Chattanooga Depot before returning.
Along the route, Santa boards the train to greet each family personally. Children receive a candy cane and can write a letter to Santa during the ride. A live reindeer appearance adds to the excitement, and many families find this shorter daytime ride perfect for introducing little ones to the holiday tradition.
After returning to the station, guests are invited to explore the Christmas Village. Most families spend 30–45 minutes enjoying warm drinks, browsing seasonal gifts, and letting children participate in hands-on activities before heading home.
North Pole Limited
The North Pole Limited has been a staple of Chattanooga’s holiday calendar since 1999. This evening ride departs from Grand Junction Depot and transforms the rail line into a North Pole adventure complete with lights, storytelling, and seasonal refreshments.
As the train arrives at the “North Pole,” Santa boards for a visit with every passenger. For many returning families, this moment — when the train slows and Santa steps aboard — has become a yearly tradition.
The North Pole Limited runs from November 15 through December 23, 2024. Traditional seating is $40 per person, and Santa’s Private Car is $65 (currently sold out).
