Iconic Summerville Steam Special is back!

On a balmy September Saturday in Summerville, the town’s signature Cook-Off brought together chili specialists with an array of autumn flavors. As residents served up their chili and stews, the town morphed into a festive fall haven. Amidst the vibrant atmosphere, the awaited highlight was the grand arrival of the Summerville Steam Special. Departing from Grand Junction depot in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this historic train journey ventured through the Chickamauga & Chattanooga Military Park, passing through Chickamauga and Rock Spring, to finally reach Summerville around 1:00 P.M. The journey, replete with autumn’s colorful vistas, offered an optional dining service and a relaxing layover for passengers to explore while in Summerville. The rhythmic chugs of the steam locomotive pulling the train through the Georgia foothills is a rare treat for many, truly living up to its name as the Summerville Steam Special.

Potential passengers should be aware that the Summerville depot lacks a platform ramp, and exiting the train is possible only through the stairwells of a train car.
