No. 4501’s 2026 Celebration
During 2026, Southern Railway No. 4501 will temporarily wear her historic Southern Railway passenger livery as part of the 60th anniversary of her return to excursion service.
This commemorative appearance celebrates an important chapter in TVRM’s history. After the anniversary season, the locomotive is expected to return to her traditional black freight appearance.
While No. 4501 highlights the importance of proper finishing and preservation, donations to this campaign support the construction of the museum’s new finishing facility, which will benefit restoration projects across the entire collection.

TVRM is raising funds to construct a climate-controlled finishing facility as part of the Soule Shops complex in East Chattanooga.
