Southern Railway X252 Caboose

A classic 1949 Southern Railway caboose on display at Grand Junction.

Step aboard the Southern Railway X252, a cupola-style caboose built in 1949 and preserved at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum’s Grand Junction location. This railcar offers a close look at the equipment that once played an essential role at the end of freight trains, helping crews monitor the train and track conditions along the route.

Southern Railway X-252 was originally built in 1949 for the Savannah & Atlanta Railway, later coming under the ownership of the Southern Railway.  This classic cupola style caboose can be found at Grand Junction on display at most times, and used on the occasional freight photo charter.
