CELEBRATING RAILROAD HERITAGE: THE SUMMERVILLE STEAM SPECIAL

Rolling Straight into Summer!

As summer begins, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) is gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year: the Summerville Steam Special. On June 1st, this unique doubleheader event will see two of TVRM’s most beloved steam locomotives, Steam Star #630 and the Queen of Steam #4501, come together for an unforgettable journey to Summerville, Georgia.

A Tribute to Railroad Heritage

The Summerville Steam Special is more than just a train ride; it’s a celebration of the enduring legacy and cultural impact of steam locomotives. These iron giants played a crucial role in shaping the industrial landscape and connecting communities across vast distances. TVRM’s dedication to preserving and showcasing these magnificent machines offers a tangible link to this transformative period in history.

Steam Star #630 and Queen of Steam #4501

Both Steam Star #630 and the Queen of Steam #4501 have storied pasts. Steam Star #630, built in 1904, served the Southern Railway for many years before being retired and later restored by TVRM. The Queen of Steam #4501, another Southern Railway veteran, is equally celebrated for its powerful performance and historical significance.

With both locomotives working together, passengers will experience the full force and grandeur of these historic engines.
