Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is proud to announce our 2016 summer camps for railroaders of many ages. The standard camp is geared towards high school aged students and will include instruction on all aspects of railroading including railroad terms, signals, how steam and diesel engines work, and the history of trains. There will also be a Blacksmithing demonstration, field trips, and guest speakers. The junior camp is geared toward late elementary and middle school students and will include instruction on all aspects of railroading, riding trains, craft projects, and games.  Dress Code: Jeans, close-toed shoes & a long sleeve shirt for in the shop. (Students may wear a short sleeve during class and at lunch.)  Each session is limited to 14 campers.  New for 2016: Camp for Adult enthusiasts!

Session 1 - Junior Half Day Camp

Date: June 6-11, 2016

Drop Off: 8:00am at Grand Junction (4119 Cromwell Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421)

Pick Up: 12:30pm

Ages: 7-9

Cost: $200.00 for the week (includes snacks and water each day)


Session 1 - Junior Full Day Camp

Date: June 6-11, 2016

Pick Up: 5:00pm

Ages: 10-12

Cost: $350.00 for the week (includes lunch, snacks, and water each day)

Cost: $1,000.00 for the week (includes meals, snacks, and water each day)

 


Dress Code & Requirements:

All campers should wear jeans, close-toed shoes & a t-shirt.  Please have campers wear clean clothing each day, but remember that it may become very dirty, sweaty, and possibly be ruined by paint, grease, etc.

Each camper should bring a backpack labeled with their name packed with: hat for sun protection, long sleeve shirt (to wear in shop or locomotive cab), sunglasses, safety goggles, work gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and any needed medications for each day.

Health & Safety

There will be a Code of Conduct that students will be expected to follow.  Due to the physical demands of certain activities in the shop, campers will need to be in reasonable physical health.

Campers will not be allowed to have cell phones during camp time.
