Summerville Steam Specials Train Ride

Summerville Steam Specials are all-day excursions to Summerville, Georgia, offered primarily on weekends during the autumn season, but with a possibility of additional trips throughout the year. A monthly dinner train runs on select Saturday evenings as well as around Valentine’s Day and Christmas. More Information | Directions

  • Prices begin at $70 per ticket (Open Window Car no meal, or Coach no meal).
  • Excursion time: 9am-6pm
  • Dining Car luncheon option is available for all ticket classes. For seats in the Open Window Car, lunch can be added during the checkout process for an additional $20 per person. 
  • Pullman and Observation tickets include both breakfast and lunch in the dining car.
  • For three trips in 2017, doubleheaded steam will be featured with both #4501 and #630 on June 3 and October 28 & 29

Dinner on the Diner includes a three-course meal in a vintage dining car, Pullman car, or the Eden Isle private office car. Dining car tables seat up to four (4), while tables in the Pullman car seat two (2). Valentine Dinner Train

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum offers special Dinner Trains during the Valentine season.Trips include a four-course dining experience on board a restored 1924 dining car. The excursion trains typically depart from our Chattanooga Grand Junction at 5:30 p.m., traveling at a leisurely pace through portions of urban Chattanooga, passing Warner Park Zoo and Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The Bunny Train

(Three weekends before Easter)

Hop aboard for a new adventure: The Bunny Train!  Trains will depart from Grand Junction and travel toward East Chattanooga where passengers will disembark for special activities.  Storytelling, temporary tattoos, coloring pages, goody bags...and a chance to meet our big bunny!  Bring a camera and take your child's photo with the Easter Bunny.

DAY OUT WITH THOMAS

Day Out With Thomas is an annual event at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum over several weekends in the spring - usually the last weekend of April and first two weekends of May.  This is a great opportunity for children and their grown-ups to spend several hours enjoying "everything Thomas"!  Focus is centered around Thomas & Friends characters, with the highlight being a 25-minute ride on a full-sized train headed by Thomas the Tank Engine himself! 

 

Halloween Eerie Express

Halloween Eerie Express trains depart from Tennessee Valley Railroad’s Grand Junction Station for a fun filled round-trip journey! Passengers begin by boarding a vintage train for a trip over four bridges and through Missionary Ridge Tunnel.  Once arriving at the Funhouse Station, riders disembark and enter the Funhouse area. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes, and we'll have a contest with prizes for the best costume (boys and girls.) 

  • Tickets are $22 for everyone age 2 & up.
  • Excursion time: 90 minutes
 

North Pole Limited

As our most popular annual event, North Pole Limited train rides have been a family tradition since 1999. During the magical holiday season, trains take riders on an imaginary journey to the North Pole. Along the way, you’ll be treated to refreshments, storytelling, and occasional sing-a-longs. As the train gently rolls down the rails, a number of lighted displays can be seen outside. Once the train pulls into the “North Pole,” a special guest boards for a visit.

  • Prices begin at $21 per ticket.
  • Excursion time: 75-minute trips
  • No Meal Service on Train
  • First Class Upgrade Available (Santa's Private Car)
 

Christmas Special Dinner Train

The trips will include a four-course dining experience on board a restored 1924 dining car. The excursion trains will depart from Grand Junction Station at 7:00 p.m., traveling at a leisurely pace through portions of urban East Chattanooga before reversing direction and returning to Grand Junction. The travel time is just right for the complete meal in a vintage dining car.

Groups are invited aboard all trains, including charters customized to your needs. School field trips are offered for educational trips and learning explorations. You can also have a train-themed birthday party at the Tennessee Valley Railroad!
